Project News - Main Entrance

Hospital front entry opens

04/11/05

The new main entry opened today. (November 4). The old front entry is now closed and the existing turnaround area has been hoarded off and is now part of the construction zone.

Also today (November 4), the “ring road” (which goes alongside the Clarke St carpark and exits onto Clarke St) has closed for eight weeks so piling and beam construction can take place. Piling will begin next Monday (November 7) and will continue over a two-week period. Noise from piling is expected to cause some disruption to staff and patients, but because piles are being bored, not driven into the ground, the thumping sound will not be as frequent.

The ring road will also close for around four hours on Wednesday afternoon (November 2) to enable the relocation of a water main.

The ED entrance will be closed next Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (November 8, 9, 10, 11) to enable paving to be completed outside the new front entry. Patients can access the ED via the new main entry during this time.
