Date set for carpark opening

The Clarke St carpark will open on June 25.
Access to the hospital from the carpark will be provided by a shuttle bus, which will operate from 6.45am to 5.30pm each weekday. A lift, designed to take patients, visitors and staff to the main hospital campus, is scheduled to open in early August. Stairs in the lift structure will open in early July.
The shuttle bus will run between the Clarke St carpark and the hospital from June 27. The 10-seater van will travel along 20 th Ave and Cameron Rd and drop passengers outside the hospital's main entrance. If necessary, it will also stop outside the MRI building in Cameron Rd. The shuttle bus will leave when passengers board, rather than departing at designated times.
Construction workers will begin erecting hoardings around a large area in front of the hospital from Monday 20 June, allowing work to begin on the construction of the north wing ward block and podium buildings. This will result in changes to on-campus parking and traffic flows from the end of June.
The main hospital entrance will become two-way, enabling vehicles to arrive and exit via the main hospital entrance. Traffic will be able to move in the following directions:
- Entering the main entrance, then moving clockwise around the Maternity Unit and Pohutukawa House before exiting via the main entrance.
- Entering via the main entrance, travelling around the back of Silver Birch House and then exiting onto Clarke St .
